An outstanding ancient Greek epic poem, a sequel to The Iliad, which recounts the adventures of Odysseus, the cunning king of Ithaca, who, after the end of the Trojan War, embarks on a long and arduous journey home. The poem describes his ten-year wander across the seas, full of incredible challenges, magical creatures and clashes with the gods. At its centre is Odysseus' struggle against a multitude of obstacles, from his encounter with the Cyclops Polyphemus and the Sirens to his encounter with the sorceress Circea. Odysseus, showing resilience, resourcefulness and fearlessness, strives to return to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.
