Of Human Bondage is Somerset Maugham's most famous novel. The novel was first published in 1915. The main character is Philip Carey who is trying to find his way and the purpose of life. Many challenges await Philip before he is finally able to pick the right path. It is considered that the novel is autobiographical, although the author himself does not agree with this opinion.
