Atlas Shrugged is a novel by the American writer of Russian origin Ayn Rand. Her real name is Alisa Rosenbaum. The book was first published in 1957 and is considered one of the most important novels of the XX century. The author tries to convey the idea that the entire world is held together by creative people, by Titans vital to the existence of society. In the novel, the main antagonist is the socialist system that stifles any expression of creativity and imagination.
