Wilhelm Busch was a German poet, illustrator and painter. He is best known for his children's book “Max and Moritz”. At one time, he was the most popular artist-poet in Germany. He successfully mocked the philistinism and hypocrisy of the 19th century, as well as the weak negatives. Some early American comics parodied Bush's authorial style.
