"Poor Folk" is a novel by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, published in 1846. The text consists of the correspondence between Makar Devushkin and Varvara Dobroselova. He is a poor titular councilor. Varya`s life after the death of his father also leaves much to be desired. They send each other letters in which they talk about problems and worries. At the same time Devushkin has warm feelings for Varenka.
