"The History of a Town" is a novel by the Russian writer Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin, published in 1870. The text is a satirical chronicle of the fictional city of Glupov (the name can be translated as Foolsville, Foolov, or Stupidtown). The author describes the history of the origin of the Glupovites, as well as vivid images of city officials.
