"The Vampire" is a novel written by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski in 1865. The novel tells the story of two young people in love but separated by social barriers. When the girl is bitten by a noticeable mark of a bloodsucker, strangers promise to help the heir of a recently deceased father so that he can win the heart of his beloved. However, nobody suspects that the mysterious stranger who appears at night to perform his duty of protecting against vampires is a vampire himself.
