This is the third novel about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, where he and his assistant Watson investigate the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville on his secluded villa in the Dartmoor wilderness. As it turns out, the Baskerville family is under a terrible curse - the curse of the hound, which rises from the grave and pursues family members.
