"Babel" is a novel by the Dutch writer Louis Couperus. The novel consists of three parts and tells the story of a wealthy English banker who travels the world in search of happiness and the fulfillment of his desires. In his travels, he encounters women of different cultures and nationalities, as well as witnesses social and political upheavals.
