
"Twenty Years Later" is a historical adventure novel by the French writer Alexandre Dumas. Continuation of the novel "The Three Musketeers", the second book of the trilogy of Alexandre Dumas-father about the royal Musketeers.
The novel takes place during the reign of the infant King Louis XIV under the regency of Queen Anne of Austria — in 1648. France is governed by the First Minister Cardinal Mazarin. The country hates the cardinal and is on the verge of a Fronde uprising.
