Sentimental Education is the last novel by the French writer Gustave Flaubert, published in 1869. The plot unfolds amidst historical events: the revolution of 1848 and the rise of Napoleon III to power. The main character, Frédéric Moreau, falls in love with a married woman a few years older than him. All his thoughts, fantasies, and any endeavors are about his romantic feeling. Written in the genre of a Bildungsroman, this book has also plenty of autobiographical motifs.
