
Mister President is a 1946 novel written by Guatemalan writer Miguel Ángel Asturias. In this book, the author explores the nature of dictatorship and the way society develops under it. There is no room for freedom here, so all the citizens suffocate in fear of tyranny. There are many characters in this novel, all of them are bounded together by Mister President. Everyone trembles in the face of him: no matter if it is a regular citizen or the highest official.
