"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a partly autobiographical novella by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, published in 1892. The author created the text in the form of a woman's diary. The heroine has just given birth and has experienced post-natal psychosis, in connection with which she is now in a room with yellow wallpaper.
