«The monastery» in English with a Parallel Translation

The book is set on the eve of the Protestant Reformation in Scotland. The novel is full of supernatural things, theological conflicts, and humor. The action is focused on the Monastery of Kennaquhair (an allusion to Melrose Abbey, you can still see its ruins near Walter Scott's former residence, Abbotsford). The monastery is on the verge of collapse. In this context, the two brothers face a new social and religious order.
