Annaluise and Anton is a 1931 children's novel by Erich Kästner. This is the story about a girl Louise Pogge nicknamed as Button, who lives in Berlin in a wealthy family, and a boy, Anton Gast, with much lower standards of living. Anton lives alone with his sick mother in a small apartment. In order to get by, Anton has to earn money near the school and help his mother around the house. By chance, the characters meet and become the best friends.
