With determination, Geralt uses his knowledge of potions and spells to begin mending his injuries, knowing he's in a perilous condition.

While resting, Geralt is discovered by a group of enigmatic dryads, led by the captivating Aglais. Dryads are creatures living in the forest, safeguarding it from human intrusion and fighting for their survival. They hold a deep-seated mistrust of humans due to a turbulent history. Yet, Aglais decides to offer Geralt help. She provides him with water, sustenance, and an unexpected healing potion.

As Geralt's strength slowly returns, Aglais discloses her motive. She imparts a specific mission to Geralt: to eliminate a mysterious entity residing within the forest. Although she remains vague about the nature of this creature, Aglais underscores its significance to the dryads' existence. In return for his services, she promises to share valuable information about Ciri, the young woman Geralt has been fervently searching for.

Chapter 2: Of Banquets, Bastards, and Burials

Ciri, the former ward of Geralt of Rivia and the child of destiny, has reappeared, albeit amnesiac, in the world of humans. She has been residing at the palace under the protection of King Demavend's mother, Princess Beatrix.

This event not only serves to honor the victory of the Pomeranians

over the Black Sea pirates but also acts as a backdrop for political negotiations. King Demavend is seeking to forge an alliance with a neighboring monarch, King Henselt of Kaedwen. Their discussions are complex, involving territorial disputes and dynastic interests.

At the same time, Ciri is receiving tutelage from Philippa Eilhart, an influential sorceress. Despite Ciri's memory loss, her swordsmanship skills are still impressive. She has become quite skilled with a new blade that suits her style.

During the banquet, it is hinted that Ciri may be carrying a child. Who the father is remains a mystery.

The king's brother, Prince Hereward, dies suddenly. This tragic event adds an air of mystery to the proceedings. Gossip and rumors swirl about the cause of his demise.

Meanwhile, Geralt and Dandelion are also in Vizima, hoping to reunite with Ciri. Their paths will soon cross with Ciri's, setting the stage for more twists and turns in this complex tale.

The story of Nimue, a scholar from the future who hasbeen researching the life of Geralt of Rivia and his adventures. She is part of a group known as the Lodge of Sorceresses, dedicated to gathering and preserving knowledge about exceptional individuals in history, including Geralt.

Nimue visits a village called Garramone, where she seeks information about the legend of Ciri and Geralt. She meets a local wise woman named Spittle who is reluctant to share her knowledge but eventually agrees to tell the story. Nimue records the tale using advanced technology from her time.

Spittle's story is one of tragic love, which she reveals to Nimue. She recounts the legend of Sir Condwiramurs Tilly, who loved a man named Kelpie. However, their love ended in tragedy as Kelpie, a being of the sea, returned to the water, leaving Condwiramurs heartbroken.

Nimue's narration is interspersed with this tale from Spittle, suggesting parallels between the ancient legend and the events in the world of Geralt and Ciri. This narrative technique adds depth and complexity to the storytelling.

Nimue continues her research and investigation into the legend of Geralt. Her quest for knowledge is driven by her fascination with the past and the desire to uncover the truth behind the stories she has been studying.

Chapter 4: Alzur's Legacy

Geralt finds himself in a tense situation as the witchers of the School of the Cat are hostile toward him. They accuse him of meddling in their affairs and being a threat to their organization. During a heated exchange, the situation escalates into violence, and Geralt must use his skills to defend himself.

As the fight unfolds, the tensions come to a head when one of the witchers draws a knife, threatening Geralt's life. In a dramatic turn of events, Geralt's quick reflexes and combat expertise save him, and he fatally injures his attacker.

Amid the chaos and bloodshed, an old man named Beppo the Mule approaches Geralt. Beppo shares information about the School of the Cat's internal conflicts and warns Geralt of their dangerous nature. He advises Geralt to leave Garramone to avoid further confrontation.

Geralt's struggles as he continues his search for Ciri. It also provides a glimpse into the complex politics and rivalries within the witcher community.

As Geralt's journey unfolds, he is faced with not only external threats but also internal conflicts among his own kind. The world Sapkowski creates is one of moral ambiguity and the blurred lines between good and evil, making "The Lady of the Lake"a rich and intricate narrative.

has been recurring throughout the series. According to the prophecy, Geralt's fate is intertwined with this enigmatic "Something More."

As Geralt departs from Brokilon, he is left with more questions than answers, and the search for Ciri remains at the heart of his journey. The flame of vengeance burns within him, and he remains determined to find her.

Chapter 7: Brokilon

Geralt remains in Brokilon, where he is treated with a mixture of hostility and curiosity by the dryads. They find him intriguing as an outsider and a Witcher. In this chapter, the author, Andrzej Sapkowski, delves deeper into the rituals and customs of the dryads, as well as their reverence for the forest.

The dryads have a unique form of justice known as "The Trial of the Grasses," which Geralt learns about. This trial is designed to determine whether an outsideris allowed to remain in Brokilon or must leave. It

involves drinking a special potion made from the forest's herbs. Geralt agrees to undergo the trial, which is painful and hallucinogenic. He experiences vivid visions and physical distress but manages to endure.
